Premier Post(code)

Due to massive demand - and a fortuitous postcode scenario where my name yet again dovetails neatly with the end of the name of the blog - I figured it was high time to get back on the blogging bike.

Since you were last with us, the following has happened.

We moved to West London for exactly 7 weeks: We lived on a grown up road (big houses and trees), played a grown up game (our gym membership came with tennis courts thrown in) and we had a grown up conservatory where we could read newspapers and debate the political hot issues of the day. Actually, very little in the way of politics or issues got discussed but it was hot. And there were skylights. Who doesn't like skylights? Various seats of learning - Oxford, Dublin, Loftus Road - had the pleasure of our company and we had the pleasure of the company of our first overseas visitors.

Germany for 5 weeks: Best Bed In The World. Expectations exceeded at all times (locals, grub, the work) except for the one thing we were actually there for (football) in that there were 2 good games out of 64. England were woeful - but you knew that already - as were the Americans - ditto - but Berlin was brilliant. You should go there. I even took this to the next stage.

North West London since the day after the World Cup Final: Great area, it seemingly takes the same amount of time to get everywhere, a ridiculously near public house mere footsteps from the front door and the home of cricket down the road. The in-laws came and went (with the latest airline scare thankfully being just that) at the same time as the hopes of the Boston Red Sox. At least my decision to not splash £15 a month extra on American sport is sadly paying off.

I'm writing this at the end of the day in an edit suite in London's oh so fashionable Soho. Who would have thought that so much time and money is spent on 30 second sequences? Edit suites are the equivalent of a Samuel Beckett play: you wait an awfully long time for something to happen (though tea and coffee arrive far too regularly) but when the render is complete...well, actually, you seem to make strange noises and then change it instantly (and order a cup of tea).

I can't promise I'll write all that often - in 2006, less somehow seems more - but as our friend Samuel B would have famously had it: onward!
